Very few men have attempted to posterize the shot blocking factory that is Rudy Gobert and lived to tell the tale, but on Tuesday night, one such player conquered the Steiffel Tower. After navigating his way through the defense, Blake Griffin rose to the top floor and stuffed home the emphatic jam with authority over the French center.

In the past few season, Griffin has spent more time on the bench recovering than throwing down the Kodak Moment dunks that first brought him to prominence. This year however, the Clippers Allstar has flipped the script and proven he’s got more than a few miles left in the tank.

Not only did Griffin throw down a dunk for the ages, but he showcased the impressive all around game he’s developed since coming into the league. Behind his newfound propensity to step beyond the three point line and a productive 22 points, the world class athlete lead his team to a 102-84 trouncing of the Utah Jazz.

His world class athleticism is still wildly apparent, but it has been Griffin’s overall willingness to do it all for Los Angeles that has stood out through three games. His minutes are down from years past, but his scoring, rebounding and shooting percentages have all notable risen.

Blake Griffin has never legitimately entered his name into MVP discussions despite possessing the talent to do so, but if he continues to mail in the exceptional outings night in and night out he could reasonably force his name into voters ballots. It’s too early to tell if his candidacy is for real at this point, but let’s hope he can keep the highlight reel flowing.
